The lungs, bony thoracic cavity, mediastinum, and major vessels are examined in the posteroanterior (PA) chest view. The X-ray source is positioned in a posteroanterior (PA) perspective such that the X-ray beam enters via the posterior (back) aspect of the chest and leaves through the anterior (front) aspect, where it is detected.
